HARRINGTON, Del. – Harrington Raceway opened for its 59th year of live racing Sunday, with Eddie Davis’ Moaner Lisa A (Allan Davis) winning the meet’s first race in 2:02.3 on a track listed as “good.”

A large crowd was in attendance, including many families that took advantage of “Family Fun Day,” which provides a potpourri of free entertainment for children and is traditionally held on opening night.

James, Stephen and David Roberto and Anthony Capone’s Porcini Hanover (Hal Belote) was the fastest of three $30,000 claiming divisional winners, with a 1:55.2 triumph after pacesetter Todd’s Jackpot (Eddie Davis Jr.) did all the work on the front with a blazing half-mile of 55.3.

Porcini Hanover stalked the leader most of the way and reeled him in the stretch with a half-length triumph. “Porcini” was also trained by Belote.

Drivers Kevin Sizer, Steve Warrington and Jim Morand each won two races on the program.

Racing continues Monday with a 5:30 p.m. post time. Parking and admission are free.
