Okemos, MI — The Michigan Harness Horsemen’s Association received confirmation from Commissioner Christine C. White that Hazel Park will remain open in June and July, racing Fridays, Saturdays and Mondays, 15 races per day.

Our association is working diligently with our racetrack management and legislators to secure supplemental funds to ensure racing in August and September at Hazel Park. Racing remains at risk and we are still looking to restore 42 days of cuts to live racing (Hazel Park — August and September) in 2009.

Horsemen are encouraged to contact their State Representative and State Senator today and ask that they restore funding to horse racing programs to secure 12,000 Michigan jobs and a billion dollars in economic benefits for Michigan.
