Hempt elims headline Saturday card at Pocono

Wilkes-Barre, PA — The second jewel of thoroughbred racing’s Triple Crown (Preakness Stakes) and a beautiful afternoon of live harness racing give fans a winning Daily Double this Saturday afternoon (May 16) at Mohegan Sun at Pocono Downs.

Featured on the live harness racing card will be several elimination races of the Max C. Hempt Memorial Pace, which will headline some of the finest 3-year-old pacers and drivers in North America. First post Saturday afternoon is 1:00 p.m.

Fans also can enjoy a beautiful afternoon outside with great food and beverage opportunities. First simulcast race is set for 10:15 a.m. from Pimlico in Baltimore, Md. Doors will open at 9:30 a.m.

The Preakness Stakes is set for approximately 6:15 p.m., and there will be advance wagering on the second jewel of the Triple Crown beginning Friday morning at 11:45 a.m. at the main track and all of the off-track wagering sites.

Fans coming early on Saturday also will have the opportunity to enter and win a round trip transportation for two and VIP seating for the Belmont Stakes at Belmont Park in New York in early June. Entry forms will be available in the live racing program and also can be obtained at the Racing Rewards desk at the racing foyer. All entries must be in by the third live harness race with the drawing taking place following the sixth race. Fans must be present to win.
