Berlin, MD — High Brook Lou, a 9-year-old Cam’s Card Shark-Belleau Hanover gelding, went wire-to-wire to win the final of the Bud Light Pace Series on Saturday night (July 5) at Ocean Downs.

Mark Gray had the lines for the series final, pacing the mile in a brisk 1:56.2 ($10.20, $5.40, $3.80). The Charles Cochran III-trained and owned High Brook Lou won a first leg series division race in 1:56 with George Napolitano as the pilot. Saturday’s final leg battle had a purse of $9,350. Finishing second in the final was 4-year-old Presidential Sam ($2.80, $2.20), who had posted wins in each of the first three legs of the series. The show horse in the feature was 9-year-old Southern Walton, who won a second leg series race.

Driver Eric Ledford continued his winning ways at the ocean with his second grand slam in the last three racing nights. His 11th win in that span earns Ledford the lead in the Ocean Downs driver’s chase. He has 14 wins after the 11th night in the 40-day summer meet.

Ledford is two-for-two with talented 4-year-old O Narutac Savant, trained by Mike Hall (1:57.1, $5.20). For Hall, it was his fifth training win of the meet. Ledford is also two-for-two with 6-year-old Art’s Mouse, who had finished fifth in consecutive races at the ocean prior to Ledford taking over driver duties from trainer George Coblentz III.

The win in the Bud Light Pace final was Mark Gray’s seventh driving win of the meet. Sam Belote also earned his seventh driving win of the summer at the Ocean Oval as On Star K, a 5-year-old, won his second straight. The Go Get Lost gelding is trained and owned by William Long, who joins Hall with five training wins.

With first and second race wins on Saturday, trainer Lloyd Lambert notched a training double, his first two victories this summer at the ocean.

The live racing meet continues its Wednesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday evening format through closing night on Sunday, August 24. Parking and admission are free. For further information, call Ocean Downs at (410) 641-0600.
