Hollywood Dayton adds $6,000 guarantee to next High-5 pool

Dayton, OH — Hollywood Dayton Raceway, in conjunction with the Strategic Wagering program of the United States Trotting Association, has announced a $6,000 guaranteed overall pool in the 20-cent High-5 wager on the fourth race on Thursday (Nov. 12).

Patrons failed to solve the High-5 on both the ninth and 14th races on Tuesday (Nov. 10), leading to a $3,409 carryover into Thursday’s first of three High-5s. The 20-cent High-5 requires players to select the first five finishers in the official order of finish.

In the event the $6,000 guaranteed pool fourth race High-5 goes unsolved, half of the new money would be added to the current carryover and a much higher pool would result for race nine. Although unlikely, if no ticket correctly picks the first five finishers in the ninth, either, a giant High-5 pool could result in the 14th and final race of the day.

The fourth race is an $8,600 condition/claiming event for fillies and mares that are non-winners of six pari-mutuel races or $40,000 lifetime. Each of the 10 contestants carry claiming tags of $20,000 plus allowances.

Always Soggy (Jason Brewer) has been installed the 5-2 favorite at the opening betting bell, based on a 1:53 triumph in a similar event at Harrah’s Hoosier Park two weeks ago. Five others have hit the board in this class within their last two starts, including Olive Another (3-1, Jeremy Smith) who has four consecutive runner-up finishes at this level.

Others with a big shot in the race are Bigrisk Cruiser (7-2, Brett Miller), Shehitthehighnote (9-2, Jeff Nisonger), Artistic Dance (6-1, Chris Presley), Passem Hill (8-1, Josh Sutton), Just Sharon (10-1, Trevor Smith) and Dragonfly (12-1, Tyler Smith).

First race post time at Hollywood Dayton on Thursdays is 1:30 p.m., with approximate post time for the first High-5 on the fourth race at 2:30. A free program page for the guaranteed pool race will be available on the USTA website.
