Ft. Washington, MD — It was ladies night at Rosecroft Raceway on Saturday (May 12) as Hot Hip Happening ($4.80, $4.00, $2.40), a classy 3-year-old Nuclear High filly, and driver Betsy Brown earned their third consecutive win in a conditioned pace worth $2,500.

Brown, who also owns and trains the filly, steered Hot Hip Happening alertly off of the gate from post four as the 7-5 betting choice and went straight to the top. The pacing filly, a winner of four of her last nine starts, held strong through fractions of :29, :59.2 and 1:28.2. Hot Hip Happening encountered no challengers through the mile, and posted a victory in 1:58.2.

Alternator ($9.00, $3.20), overlooked at the windows at 10-1 odds, worked out a pocket trip behind the frontrunner for second. The 4-year-old Artiscape gelding, racing for owner Eugene Landy and trainer Clayton Green, shows improvement with each start. With Jason Green at his lines, Alternator has finished second to Hot Hip Happening the past two weeks.

Third in the $216.60 trifecta were Future Art ($4.80) and driver Joe Offutt. Offutt, who also trains and co-owns with Marshall Lee Herrin, took the 3-year-old Arturo gelding off of the gate to sit along the rail throughout the mile.

Post time for Monday’s (May 14) card is slated for 5:35 p.m., and both the Open Pace and Trot will be presented.
