It’s ‘Chiodo Protocol’ as Stacy trains the YR late double

Yonkers, NY — During a sweltering Tuesday night (July 10) in the metropolitan area, Yonkers Raceway unveiled its own version of the Chiodo Protocol.

Trainer Stacy Chiodo swept the double nickel (5-5) late daily double, changing the economic climate of those who hit it to the tune of $202.

Ms. Chiodo sent out King’s Point ($13.20) in the $7,000, ninth race pace. The 3-year-old Matt’s Scooter gelding, driven by Eric Goodell for owner Gene Landy, outgamed Safe Sex (Greg Grismore, three winners Tuesday) to prevail by a head in 1:56. It was his fourth win in 17 seasonal tries.

Chiodo did the honors herself in the $8,000 pacing finale. She sent Mighty Joe Young ($22.60) wide down the backside, engaged the pace-setting Dynamic Dude N (Dan Dube), then held off the pocket-sitting Jumpin’ Jack Flash (Jim Meittinis) to win by a half length in a season’s best 1:56.1. The 4-year-old Matt’s Scooter gelding, owned by Pamela Menosky, won his third race in 16 ’07 starts.

The 30-year-old Chiodo, who resides in Jackson, N.J., now has eight training victories and three driving wins this season.

Live racing is currently offered at Yonkers with six programs per week — Monday through Saturday nights at 7:40 p.m. Harness and thoroughbred simulcasting is available seven days a week, while Empire City’s nearly 5,500 video gaming machines are in play daily from 10:00 a.m.-2:00 a.m.
