Jersey Girls Series opens at Meadowlands

East Rutherford, NJ — Don’t Deny Me sat second over and then passed the tiring leaders to win the first of two $20,000 divisions of the Jersey Girls Series on Thursday night (March 19) at the Meadowlands.

Don’t Deny Me was a 1:52 winner for David Miller.

David Miller and Don’t Deny Me ($5.20 $3.80 $3.00) followed Natalie up the backstretch as she tried to pass the leader, Saymynamesaymyname. Natalie couldn’t clear and it became a duel between the two with Don’t Deny Me waiting for the perfect moment to make a move. Don’t Deny Me flew past the weary leaders in the stretch to win the night’s sixth race in 1:52. Four Starz Horndog ($5.60 $3.60) was second and Apere Hanover ($4.00) finished third.

Don’t Deny Me, trained and owned by Ken Rucker, is two for five in 2009. She has improved her career earnings to $144,419.

Ramona Disomma ($6.80 $4.20 $2.60) took the second division of the Jersey Girls Series, after making a late rally down the stretch in 1:52.2. Autumn Magic ($13.80 $6.60) was second and Teenage Paige ($3.40) was a close third.

The win marks Ramona Disomma’s second in seven starts this year for trainer Jacob Hartline. Ramona Disomma boosted her career earnings to $142,408 for owner Anatolia Racing Stable.

The Jersey Girls Series continues next Thursday (March 26) with a $20,000 second leg.
