JM Vangogh was a 1:56.1 winner for Tony Morgan in the Open Trot.

Starting on the outside in a seven-horse field, Morgan took JM Vangogh to the outside after the quarter and worked his way up by the half to engage leader Jake’s Nordic and driver Tim Curtin. The pair raced side-by-side until turning for home when the 8-year-old son of Earl took over on the way to his second consecutive winning start this year. Litigator closed quickly for Roger Plante from sixth in mid-stretch to nip Jake’s Nordic for second. Paul Chambers trains and owns JM Vangogh with John Mello. The victory brings the winner’s bankroll to $1,603,867 lifetime.

Tony Morgan, the sport’s leading dash-win driver in 2008, also teamed with another Chambers trainee, Sweet Daddy Siki, to win the sub-featured $24,000 Winners Over Trot in 1:56. Instant Photo got away near the back of the field and Tim Tetrick steered his challenger into contention at the three-quarters but could get no closer to the winner than three-quarters of a length at the wire. Go Nano Go and Eddie Davis, Jr. was the show finisher. The win was the fourth of the season for the 4-year-old altered son of Dream Vacation owned by Paul and Colleen Chambers.

Delbert Cain’s homebred Go Sassy Go won for the third time this year, beating eight female opponents in 1:56.4 in a $23,000 trot. Jessie Hall finished second with Tim Tetrick driving. Armbro Emma and Ben Stafford, Jr. came on in the stretch for show money.
