Columbus, OH — Driver Joe Offutt reached an important milestone late last month when he won the 2,000th race of his career.
Offutt hit the magic number when he piloted Future Art to a 2:06.4 score on August 27 at the Indiana, Pennsylvania Fair. Offutt, who is the leading trainer on the Pennsylvania Fair Circuit this year, also trains and co-owns the 4-year-old Arturo-Lacinda Hanover gelding.
The 54-year-old Offutt is a native of Woodsboro, Maryland and has been driving for over 30 years. He set a single-season career high for victories in 1992 when he made 135 trips to the winner’s circle. It was one of five seasons that he reached the century mark in wins.
