Joe To Go survives eventful trip in Lexington Breeders Classic

Joe To Go had an eventful trip as the 1-9 favorite in the $76,200 Lexington Breeders Classic Saturday night at The Red Mile, but he still got the job done impressively in 1:53 2/5 thanks to strong handling by driver Jason Dillander.
Trained by Joe Seekman, Joe To Go got away fourth through an opening quarter in :27 3/5 in the event for 2-year-old colt and gelding pacers, then drifted to the outside approaching the half-mile to go after the leader, CR Fixed Asset. Joe To Go took some awkward steps, however, and got hung through a half-mile in :56 4/5 and three-quarters in 1:25 3/5.
Joe To Go appeared to drop at least a length behind the leader at the top of the lane, but Dillander kept the Jenna’s Beach Boy colt together and he straightened up and powered away to win by two lengths for his sixth win in seven career starts. CR Fixed Asset held well for second, with Four Star Tommy third and Thunder Seelster fourth.
The $38,100 winner’s share of the purse kept Dillander and Seekman well ahead in the earnings category for driver and trainer, respectively, at the summer/fall meet.
Joe To Go is owned by L&L Devisser LLC, Seekman Racing Stable and Suttons Bay Racing. He was bred in Michigan by L&L Devisser LLC. The colt also won the Review Stakes and Fox Stakes this season.
