Randall Waples steered Kandor Hanover to the win in the Lifetime Dream Series final.

The daughter of Tagliabue-Katelyns Glory had finished second in the two preliminary legs of the series and her chances greatly increased with the scratch, due to sickness, of Margarita Mary, who would have been the prohibitive favorite in the final.

Queen Creek, who was in search of a series sweep for driver Mark MacDonald, shot out to the early lead from post one and laid down hot fractions of :26.3 and :56 before facing pressure from Kandor Hanover in the third quarter.

The outside challenger took over at the third marker in 1:26.1 but had Another Vixen in hot pursuit. The top pair drew off on the others with Kandor Hanover needing every bit of a :29.3 final quarter to hold off Another Vixen by a head. It was another 2-1/2 lengths back to La Marchesa, who finished third.

Kandor Hanover returned $6.40 in notching her first win of the season in three outings for trainer John Burns, who co-owns along with the Online Stables of Ontario and Patrick Huber. The lion’s share of the purse elevated her career earnings to just over C$133,000.
