Kerogen favored in Joseph Ricci Memorial Trot

Scarborough, ME — Post positions were drawn today for the $50,000 Joseph Ricci Memorial Trot and despite drawing to the outside wing (post six) Kerogen has been installed as the 5-2 morning line favorite.

Kerogen and Kim Ireland are favored in the Joseph Ricci Memorial.

The 4-year-old son of Lindy Lane has taken New England by storm this season, claiming victory in 10 of 17 starts while recording a new lifetime speed standard of 1:56.2 earlier this year at Rockingham Park.

Kerogen is owned by Lew Hayden of Pleasanton, Texas and will be driven by Kim Ireland.

The $50,000 Joseph Ricci Memorial Trot — the richest Invitational Trot in state of Maine history — will be contested as the ninth race at Scarborough Downs on Monday, August 27. First post is scheduled for 3:45 p.m. (EDT).

Past winners of the invitational include: Thousand Lights (2002), Moving By Passer (2003), Current Cast (2004) and Stars Photo (2005, 2006).

Two divisions of the Maine Standardbred Breeders Stakes and an outstanding Open Pace will highlight the action on the undercard on Monday as a total of $99,288 in purse money will be awarded.

Scarborough Downs proudly features live harness action every Monday, Tuesday and Saturday afternoon with first post scheduled for 3:45 p.m. The popular Sunday matinees get underway at 12:05 p.m.
