Key Western one of five winners for Ryan Stahl

by Keith Gisser

The track was rated good Saturday night at Northfield Park and Daryl Sherman’s Key Western was better, as he vacated the pocket on a late retake and won the $10,000 Invitational Pace with a 1:56 effort.

Kent Sherman trains the 2006 Northfield Park co-Horse-of-the-Year, who posted his first win in six starts this year.

A son of Western Hanover, Key Western was 1/4 length ahead of Perfect Door at the wire, while JT Stena, the longest shot in the race, finished third. Ryan Stahl drove the seven-year-old to victory, one of five wins on the card for the 28-year-old teamster.
