Northfield, OH — Gates Mills Stables and Rich Paltani’s Kick It In Kaylyn ($8.80) won Friday’s (Feb. 17) $7,500 Mares Open Trot at Northfield, going gate-to-wire in 1:58.3 to defeat longshot Martz Creek Danty by three-quarters of a length, with Polo Jenn a length back of the winner in third.

Troy Boring drove the 5-year-old Village Connection mare to her third win in seven seasonal starts, as she pushed her earnings to $14,650 on the year and $77,276 on her career. Although the track was listed as fast, Kick It In Kaylyn’s mile was the quickest of the night.

The win was one of two on the card for Boring, while Chris Page, Dan Noble and Andy Shetler also doubled.
