Kikikatie supplanted Bardot Lobell, who sold for $430,000 in 1986 as the highest priced pacing broodmare sold at auction when she was hammered down for $500,000 on Thursday afternoon at the Standardbred Sale in Harrisburg. The sales slip was signed by Dr. Moira Gunn, who declined to specify for whom she was acting as agent. Kikikatie was consigned by Peninsula Farm for Lee and Linda DeVisser.

“I don’t know if this is good or not, I feel so bad,” commented DeVisser. “She was such a good race horse and she’s bred to the hot stallion (Rocknroll Hanover) and she’s due early (last bred February 2/18). I heard Moira Gunn signed for her and I gave her a hug and wished her best of luck Carter (Duer, owner of Peninsula Farm) and I were just talking, we got started together with Armbro Nest and She’s A Great Lady and they sold one right after another (for $140,000 and $120,000 respectively).”

DeVisser continues to race fillies and laughed when asked if he would keep a good filly to breed. “Yes, I’d probably keep her, but I wouldn’t get this big again. I have so many horses and I had Katie insured, but not for this ($500,000) much.”
