Berlin, MD — Driver Kim Vincent, who recorded his 1,000th career win on August 1, won his tenth of the current summer meet at Ocean Downs on Thursday, August 9.

Vincent was in the bike for trainer John Rinnier as 3-year-old Super Snappy won the second leg of the Alan Myer Memorial Late Closer Trot Series. The Super Punk filly went wire-to-wire, finishing strong for her second win of the meet and the year ($20.80).

“She’s a really nice filly. She was a stakes filly in Delaware,” Vincent, who drove her at Harrington through June, said. Super Snappy trotted the mile in 2:00.3, her career-best.

“She’s got a lot of ability. She’s very capably trained. She did a half in :57 with a green trotting horse. We haven’t got her completely dialed in yet, but John’s working on it. He’ll get her there,” Vincent added confidently.

The third leg of the series will be contested on August 16, with the final set for August 23. The two Alan Myer Memorial opening leg winners, Moon City Special and Ben Joe’s Way, finished third and fourth on Thursday.

The Ocean Downs leading driver this summer, Frank Milby, had another five-win night on Thursday and now has 51 wins with only nine days of the 40-day meet remaining. Milby, also the leading driver at Rosecroft Raceway, had the lines in the night’s final race as 14-year-old veteran GE’s Justin won ($3.40) to add to his over $350,000 in career earnings.

“You’re just a passenger on that horse,” Milby said. “He kind of does everything on his own. He’s probably got 300 lifetime starts.”

The WRH gelding is having an excellent year for trainer/owner Shawn Armour. GE’s Justin now has 16 wins this year in 24 outings.

Shawn Armour had three horses he trains post wins on Thursday and he currently has 19 winners for the meet. He leads Joseph Eisenhower, Sr., who has 13 wins in the trainer’s title chase.

Armour teamed with Milby as 1-9 favorite, 5-year-old Badlands Beau, won his fifth straight at the Ocean ($2.10, 1:57). Armour and Milby also won with 4-year-old Electric Ace, who won his second straight ($4.60, 1:57).

Mark Gray had a productive night on Thursday with two driving and three training wins. He was between the wheels as 3-year-old Rosecroft import Town Hero won his second this year ($4.00) and 7-year-old Au Page won her first in two years ($34.20).

12-year-old Taylor’s Tyler, trained by Gray, won for the first time in the past two years ($9.20) as Brian Wessells had the lines.
