Pompano Beach, FL — The undeniably talented 4-year-old trotter Lanson extended his winning streak to two at Pompano Park on Wednesday, March 12, keeping his perfect seasonal record intact when taking the $4,000 ninth race winners over trot in 1:57.4.

Lanson tallied his second straight victory at Pompano Park on Wednesday.

Driven from post two by conditioner Don Swick, Lanson found an early spot along the pylons in sixth place before angling out to track the cover of Blue Ribbon Beauty (Wally Hennessey) as Yale Hall (David Ingraham) showed the way through opening fractions of :29.3 and 1:01.1.

As the trotters straightened out for their journey down the backstretch, Blue Ribbon Beauty cleared to the front leaving Lanson to trot uncovered, albeit briefly, as the son of Self Possessed was moved aggressively to claim the top spot through a three-quarter split in 1:29.

Sprinting clear of his rivals on the final turn, Lanson entered the stretch with a three length advantage and was never presented with a challenge from his overmatched rivals, drawing off in the final yards to prevail by 4-3/4 lengths after a final panel that went in :28.4.

Lanson returned $2.80, $2.10, and $2.20 for the victory. Crown Candle (Tom Haughton) brought in $3.40 and $3.20 for second, while K M Sweet Dreams (Anthony Napolitano) paid $3.80 for third.

Owned by Royal Wire Products Inc. of North Royalton, Ohio, Lanson has visited the winner’s circle in five of 10 starts, including a record of four victories from five outings at Pompano. The gelding’s lone triumph away from South Florida came at the Meadowlands on July 11, 2007, where he covered the mile in a lifetime best 1:53.3.

Earlier on the Wednesday program, the Argentinean import Chucaro Guadal ($3.60) scored his sixth straight victory, equaling his lifetime mark of 1:59.2 when taking the $3,400 third race non-winners trot for owner Osvaldo Formia and driver/trainer Gro Formia.

Chucaro Guadal took the overland route to victory, as the 5-year-old son of Althea’s Crown was first-over for the final five-eighths of the mile, clearing to the front on the final turn before coming home in :29.1 to post a 3-1/4 length victory and remain unbeaten in four appearances above the equator.
