Freehold, NJ — One streak was extended and another was snapped in third round New Jersey Sires Stakes action for 2-year-old pacing fillies on Saturday (September 1) at Freehold Raceway.

Dreamlands Latte, a bay daughter of Artsplace–Dreamlands Hardie, scored her third straight victory, fourth in five starts, in the second race, a $27,500 division, pushing her earnings to more than $54,000 for owner-breeder Dreamland Farms of Cream Ridge, N.J.

Dreamlands Latte ($5.80, $3.00, $2.10) was a 2-1/4 length winner over Jazzy Art’s Candy ($4.80, $2.10), also a daughter of the late Artsplace. The mile was timed in 1:56.3. Finishing 3-3/4 lengths back in third was McArts N Crafts ($2.10), the even money favorite, who had her winning streak stopped at two. The daughter of McArdle had won the $441,750 Sweetheart Pace at the Meadowlands and an opening round NJSS division.

Dreamlands Latte was driven to victory by Jack Baggitt, Jr. and is trained by Robert Baggitt, Jr.

In the $28,000 second division, carded as the third race, Ideal Morning ($20.60, $2.10, $2.10) upset Valmctorian ($2.10, $2.10) by 2-1/4 lengths in 1:59.3. It was 5-1/2 lengths to True Deluxe ($2.10) in third.

Ideal Morning and True Deluxe are both daughters of Western Ideal, while Valmctorian is by McArdle.

Ideal Morning, owned by Irving Bork and trained by Buzzy Sholty, posted her second win in three starts. She was driven to victory by David Miller.

Shutter Boy is a picture of success

Shutter Boy, who swept all three preliminary legs, heads into the $85,000 New Jersey Sires Stakes Final on Wednesday afternoon (September 5) at Freehold Raceway as the trotter most likely to get his photo taken.

He has been installed as the 5-2 morning line favorite in the stakes for 2-year-old New Jersey-sired trotting colts and geldings, carded as the sixth race. He will leave from post two (betting number three) with his trainer George Dennis in the sulky.

The 2-year-old son of Yankee Glide–Miss Photogenic now has three wins, one second and one third in eight starts for earnings of $42,632. He carries a three-race winning streak into Wednesday’s final.

Delaware-based Dennis and his wife, Tina, own Shutter Boy in partnership with the North State Street Stable (Joseph Petrosky, Curtis Larrimore and Mark Stonesifer) of Dover, Del. North State Street Stable is also co-owner of the 2-year-old trotting filly Snow White, who captured the $175,000 New Jersey Sires Stakes Championship in July at the Meadowlands during her five-race unbeaten streak.

Shutter Boy was a $25,000 Lexington Selected Sale purchase.
