Campbellville, ON — Longshots were the story as Mohawk Racetrack kicked off the 2007 Summer Meet on Thursday night, May 17.

Only two favorites were able to prevail during the 10-race program and they were Big Money at 5-2 in the fourth race and Trimline, who scored by just a head in the night’s seventh race at 6-5 odds.

Leading the longshot parade was Freds Good Friday, who scored in the sixth race at odds of 65-1. The 7-year-old gelding found room late between horses and won in 1:53.4 while kicking back $134.70 on the nose.

The Pick-4 returned a whopping $32,567.90 for a $1 ticket.

There was also a dead-heat that came in race eight between Rustlin Goodtime and Space Traveller, who hit the wire together in 1:53.

Woodbine’s leading driver so far in 2007, Jody Jamieson, held the hot hands on opening night as he reined home three winners.
