Pompano Beach, FL — Macadream set a North American record as the fastest 14-year-old horse in the history of harness racing Thursday at Pompano Park Harness Track in winning the 7th race $4,500 pace in 1:54.1 for driver Kevin Wallis.

Macadream and driver Kevin Wallis paced to a 1:541 victory, a North American record for 14-year-old harness horses, in the seventh race pace at Pompano Park on Thursday, February 5

Leading from start to finish, Macadream won by three open lengths for his first win in three starts this year. His time of 1:541 surpassed the previous mark of 1:543 set by Totheletter in 2000. Macadream is also the fastest 12-year-old on the books, having won in 1:52 at Pompano Park, his current lifetime mark.

Owned and trained by Jim McDonald of Pompano Beach, Florida, Macadream is a career winner of $310,000. The 14-year-old stallion by Albert Albert is in his final year of racing as all 14-year-old’s must retire from racing on January 1 when they turn age 15. Macadream was unraced as a 2-year-old but then raced and won every year since then. His lifetime statistics include 239 starts, 66 wins, 29 seconds, and 18 third place finishes.

Macadream was sent off as the 6-5 betting favorite and paid $4.60, $3.20 and $2.40 across the board. Talbot Turo (Walter Ross, Jr.) finished second with Valet Service (Vince Copeland) finished third.

For winning driver Kevin Wallis, it was one of his four victories on the night.

A total of 14 trotters who have been nominated to the upcoming $125,000 Mack Lobell Trotting Series at Pompano Park will be competing in four different races on Friday, which is the track’s 40th anniversary celebration night. Co-track record holders Damon Runyon (post five) and Trappers Salute A (post six) are featured in the 11th race $11,500 Open Handicap trot. Last year Damon Runyon won the Mack Lobell Invitational.
