MacDonald Stable sharp in first Plainridge qualifiers

by Domenic Longobardi, for Plainridge Racecourse

Plainville, MA –– If the first qualifying races of the season at Plainridge Racecourse are any indication, then the Allison MacDonald Stable is fit and ready to go.

Showing no ill effects from one of the harshest winters in New England history that wreaked havoc with training schedules, the MacDonald Stable was victorious in three of five qualifying events held at Plainridge on Tuesday afternoon.

Alex MacDonald was in the sulky as Truscott Steel A, Paper And Fortune and Brown Brim all hit the wire first their respective heats.

Flow Control, with leading driver Brad Irvine in the bike, and Jared’s Journey, piloted by Melissa Rico, won the other two races.

Qualifying action resumes at Plainridge this coming Friday March 25. Qualifiers will also be held next week on Tuesday March 29 and again on Friday April 1.

The first draw of the 2005 season takes place Wednesday March 30, when the card for opening day, Monday April 4, will be drawn.

Plainridge Racecourse will conduct live racing each Monday, Tuesday and Thursday at 4:00 p.m.
