Rexdale, ON — Woodbine Racetrack featured eight Ontario Sires Stakes Super Finals on Saturday night (November 10). Below is a recap of each of the eight finals.

3-Year-Old Colt Pace

Paul MacDonnell made it a hat-trick when he drove 2-1 co-favorite Bigtime Ball to a commanding victory in the last of eight OSS Super Finals Saturday night at Woodbine.

In the Irons and Phil Hudon shot to an early lead with Bigtime Ball settling comfortably into the three-hole behind Deuces and Jacks, but MacDonell made a move to the front before the half and sprinted away from the field, posting a third quarter of 27 seconds flat and coasting to the wire with no serious challengers. The gray, Golden Seven, stepped up for second while In the Irons held on for third.

Bigtime Ball, a son of Presidential Ball out of the Albatross mare, Keystone Trinidad, pushed his earnings over the half-million mark with the win.

3-Year-Old Colt Trot

Arch Madness ran down a tiring Laddie in the stretch and surged to a three-length victory in a new lifetime mark of 1:53.2, in the seventh of eight OSS Super Finals. It was the second Super Final win of the evening for driver Steve Condren.

Three colts — Flirtin Man, Chelemark Porter, and Beer Budget — were off-stride at the gate and were never factors as a result. Tickets were refunded on Flirtin Man who was ruled not to have had a fair start. Smarty Jims also made a break before the first quarter.

Arch Madness, a son of Balanced Image out of Armbro Archer, was bred by Steven H Shapiro, Barry B Goldstein and Marc Goldberg, all of New York State. The bay gelding raced only twice as a 2-year-old but this year has racked up eight wins in 19 starts, with winnings in excess of C$400,000.

3-Year-Old Filly Pace

Mach You and Me moved to the front by the half-mile marker, fought off a challenge from Michelles Power and pulled away in impressive fashion to capture the OSS Super Final for 3-year-old filly pacers by more than three lengths. It was the second Super Final victory of the evening for driver and co-owner, Paul MacDonnell.

Mach You and Me, a brown daughter of Mach Three out of Hi Ho Hilda, now has more than C$500,000 in career earnings and a record of seven wins in 17 starts, including three wins and two seconds in seven OSS starts.

3-Year-Old Filly Trot

With the scratch of JTladystrong from the inside post (as well as Maple Sugar in post position 10), Nicolas Vanderplas trainee Brigham Dream left from the inside and quickly made this Super Final her own. Taking over the lead at the half from JM Aggie and Jody Jamieson, Brigham Dream withstood a stretch charge from Carolyn AS to take the Super Final for 3-year-old trotting fillies. Caught My Eye rushed up on the rail for second and Sportyportia grabbed third from the far outside.

Brigham Dream, by Kaisy Dream out of the Balanced Image mare, Crystas Image, was bred by the Dream With Me Stable of Brigham, Quebec. She now has a record of nine wins in 16 starts, including four wins in six OSS starts.

2-Year-Old Colt Pace

Deuce Seelster shot to the front of the field in the fourth of eight Super Finals and made the rest look easy, with Fun Of The Game enjoying a perfect pocket trip most of the way before giving way to The Mohegan Pan in the stretch.

This is the third consecutive win, and the ninth in 12 starts, for the son of Western Maverick-Demi Seelster. The winning time of 1:52 is a new lifetime mark for Deuce Seelster.

2-Year-Old Colt Trot

It was all Windsong Espoir in the third of nine OSS Super Finals, as the son of Kadabra surged to the front early from the outside post and utterly intimidated his competition. Never seriously challenged, 1-9 favorite Windsong Espoir coasted home in 1:57, improving his freshman record to nine wins in 10 starts.

Trainer Brad Maxwell has indicated this will be Windsong Espoir’s final race of the 2007 season.

2-Year-Old Filly Pace

3-5 favorite Chancey Lady proved much the best in the second of eight OSS Super Finals, holding off all challengers and pacing to a three-length victory over All Accounted For (John Campbell) and Voelz Hanover (Rick Zeron).

Chancey Lady, a daughter of Camluck out of the Artsplace mare, Art of Design, was bred by Brittany Farms, of Versailles, KY and Daisy Acres of Astoria, NY, and can now boast six wins in eight starts, and a new lifetime mark of 1:52.0.

2-Year-Old Filly Trot

After 4-5 favorite Bella Dolce shocked by making a break at the gate, it was anyone’s game in the OSS Super Final for 2-year-old filly trotters. Several fillies made bids for the lead, but it was Delphic with a late surge who overtook In Fine Form and John Campbell in the stretch, with Somebody to Love (Luc Ouellette) close behind.

Bred by Malhana Farm of Vernon, Vermont, Delphic has only one previous win on her record, with career earnings of C$62,027.
