Mares Open Handicap tops a distaff Tuesday at Dover Downs

DOVER, Del. — A talented group of eight fast distaffs match strides in the $22,000 Mares Open Handicap Pace on Tuesday, March 9 at Dover Downs. Post time is 4:30 p.m. ET.

After a absence of one week, John Sixt and Judith Blaun’s Hug Fanci, who will be driven by Rick Still, brings a record of two straight wins into the feature race.

Cams Little Imp N makes her first appearance with new ownership. Purchased after her last race by Lester Walls and Jack Upchurch, the seven-year-old Camtastic import will be driven by Brad Hanners. Brooks Stables’ Hasty Dewar and Kevin Sizer should enjoy the switch from post 8 in her last outing to post 5.

Tanah Merah Farms’ Armbro View, with Jim Morand in the bike, returns from the Meadowlands to the scene of a 1:51.3 victory in early January. Niss Allen Inc.’s Ann Other Porsche gets the services of Brian Sears. Rondel Franco N, owned by Wilson and trainer Jeff Clark, starts from the rail with Eddie Davis Jr. while Jeffrey Franklin’s Rain Dance Kim, piloted by Travis Bowman, leaves from the outside.

The sub-feature is a $17,500 Mares Winners-Over Pace with nine starters. Three of the participants are fresh from victory. Akowskey, Ehrhart, Korn and Kross’ Time Frame N (Eddie Davis) won last Tuesday’s feature. Bob and Rhonda Smith’s Ezy Dell N (Kevin Sizer) also won on that same card while Carter Racing Stable’s Felicity (Jim Morand) scored an impressive win in her most recent start two weeks ago. Clair Corle and trainer-driver Roger Hammer’s My Gal Phyl has the rail with William Moffett’s Nuclear Power (Jim King) alongside. Simply Electric (Steve Warrington) makes her first start after being claimed by Don Hawk, John Hynansky and trainer Dan Warrington. Betty Brittingham’s Chocolate Square (Don Brittingham), Gary and Barbara Iles’ Scissor Magic (Brand Hanners) and George Brem’s Jett Away (Bret Brittingham) have upset credentials.

CC’s Chuckie T, owned by Wendy Crissman and Chuckie T Racing Team (Kevin Sizer), a stakes-winner at two, makes his first start as a four-year-old in the day’s top trot. Eight start in the $10,500 event including trainer-driver Sam Beegle’s fast Frisky Fella, Cantwell Bridge Stable’s Primo Rager (Brad Hanners), William Moffett’s D’amico Cucina (Ross Wolfenden) and Bob Harper and Bill Vandervort’s Ringside Leash (Leah Vandervort).

Monday through Thursday post time is 4:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday racing starts at 5:30 p.m. No racing on Friday. There is no charge for parking or admission. Reservations are suggested for the Winner’s Circle Restaurant – 302-674-4600.
