Mattios, driven by George Brennan and trained by James Tolson, drew off to a three-length victory in a lifetime best of 1:54.3.

Catch An Angel [$3.20] was five and three-quarter lengths back in third.

A daughter of Matt’s Scooter, Mattios now has two wins and a second in five lifetime starts. Her other victory came in a $46,705 division of the Debutante Stakes on June 29 at the Meadowlands.

A $19,000 yearling purchase, the filly has now banked $118,997 for Dee Tighe of Naples, Florida.

“It worked out great,” said Brennan. “I started out third or fourth and eventually the speed settled. The fractions were very kind tonight. The third quarter in 29.2 was the key to the race. Overall it was a great trip.”

“I told George that if he got her to the top by the half, she’d take care of the rest,” said Tolson. “I knew she was the better horse coming into this race.”

In a trio of $29,500 New Jersey Sire Stakes for two-year-old trotting colts and geldings, winning efforts were turned in by Johnny Muscles, driven by Jeff Gregory and trained by Jan Johnson, in 1:59.3; and a pair of Jimmy Takter trainees, Global Glide, driven by Takter, in 1:59 flat and Smart Again, with David Miller in the sulky, in 1:59.1.
