Campbellville, ON — The C$61,200 final of the Summertime Series for three-year-old pacers was drawn on Tuesday afternoon in the Mohawk race office. The 10 horse field will go to post in Saturday evening’s sixth race (9:04 p.m.) and both Mattscape Seelster and Andreoli Hanover will be looking for a series sweep.

Conditioned by his owner, Jerry Sims, Mattscape Seelster (post one, Roger Mayotte) is the fastest of the preliminary leg victors, having motored to a one and a half length score in 1:50.4 on July 2. For that mark-lowering mile, the bay son of Artiscape had Paul MacDonell in the sulky. Regular pilot Roger Mayotte held the colt’s reins last week and earned a neck victory over Super Eighty Eight, clocked in 1:52.4. After a lone race as a two-year-old, the son of the Matt’s Scooter mare Mattjestic has compiled a 7-6-0 record and $77,162 in earnings this season from 15 starts. Mayotte has been listed to drive the career winner of $79,997.

Trained by Mark Harder for David Scharf, Steven Arnold, Sampson Street Stables and Jerry Silva, Andreoli Hanover (post seven, Mike Saftic) has shown versatility in the series, winning both on the front and from off the pace in life’s mark clockings of 1:51.1. A son of The Panderosa, out of the Jate Lobell mare Allamerican Indigo, the colt raced eight times at two, notching a lone victory and banking $18,640. In nine starts this season, the bay has raced to a 4-0-3 record and $37,901 in earnings. Driver Luc Ouellette gave him a front-end steer in the first leg, which produced the two and a quarter length tally. Reinsman Mike Saftic guided the five-time winner in the second leg, producing the one and a quarter length triumph. Saftic has been listed to guide the $56,541 career earner for the final.

Magnum (post nine, Luc Ouellette), one of two finalists from the Mark Ford Stable, is another in the field who won a preliminary leg. The Cambest gelding notched a one and three-quarter length tally in a life’s mark 1:52.4 in the opening round and finished second to Andreoli Hanover in the second leg.

Super Eighty Eight (post two, Luc Ouellette) is the other Ford student set to contest the final. The Jenna’s Beach Boy gelding finished second in each of the preliminary legs, beaten one and a half lengths in the opening round and a neck back last week, both times at the hands of Mattscape Seelster.
