Campbellville, ON — Driver Bob McClure made the most of his Monday night (Sept. 19) visit to Mohawk Racetrack by posting five victories on the 10-race card.

Several regular WEG reinsmen were out of town Monday competing in Ontario Sires Stakes action, leaving the door open for rising star McClure to make a statement.

The young driver started off his evening by winning the first three races on the card, including a 29-1 upset in the opener with claiming pacer Nicholas Ryan for trainer Carmen Auciello, who sent out three winners on Monday’s card.

McClure’s win streak was snapped in the fourth race, but he quickly got back to his winning ways in the fifth dash with rookie pacing colt Osborne Seelster for trainer Ted MacDonnell.

The fifth and final victory of the night for McClure came in the sixth race with Joe Pereira trainee Par Intended.

McClure, who had nine drives on the card, entered Monday’s action with two wins from 34 drives on the WEG Circuit in 2016.

The Elora, Ontario, native is currently in the midst of a career best season. McClure has won a career high 357 races this season and is well on pace to top his single season earnings mark of C$2.1 million.

Live racing continues Tuesday night at Mohawk Racetrack. Post time is 7:30 p.m.
