Meadowlands Pace Champ wins again

EAST RUTHERFORD, NJ – July 28, 2004 – Holborn Hanover, who won the $1 million Meadowlands Pace nearly two weeks ago at odds of 58-1, added a $15,000 division of the Standardbred Retirement Foundation to his credits on Wednesday night at the Meadowlands.

Holborn Hanover [$5.60, $3.80, $2.20], driven by Jim Morrill Jr. and trained by Mark Harder, popped out of the two-hole in the stretch and pulled by Rare Jewel [$6.20, $2.60] for a one-length victory in 1:50.3.

JK Royal Flush [$2.10] was third by four and three-quarter lengths.

Holborn Hanover, owned by Ontario-based John Fielding and the Canamerica Capital Corp., posted this third win of the year and lifted his 2004 bankroll to more than $580,000.

Timesareachanging won by three-quarters of a length over Maltese Artist, who edged out Vintage Cam.

In the first division, carded as the third race, Timesareachanging [$3.40, $2.10, $2.10] won by three-quarters of a length over Maltese Artist [$2.10, $2.10], who edged out Vintage Cam [$2.10] in third.

Timesareachanging, driven by Yannick Gingras and trained by Brett Pelling, paced the mile in 1:50.1.

In a pre-program event, Ray Remmen guided Northern Kid to victory a length and a quarter victory over Med Vac in the $20,000 Peter Haughton Memorial Prep.

The two-year-old trotting colt covered the mile in 1:58.3.

The nine entrants advance to the $420,000 Peter Haughton Memorial Final on July 28.

Driver Daniel Dube was taken to Hackensack University Medical Center for precautionary x-rays for a twisted right ankle. He injured himself in post parade for the sixth race, jumping off the sulky to avoid a kicking Alpine Prinz N.
