Merriman’s chase to 1,000 continues tonight at Northfield Park

Northfield, OH — Last year Aaron Merriman became the first driver in the history of harness racing to achieve two 1,000-win seasons.  Tonight at Northfield Park Merriman may continue to write history by not only being the only driver to reach that milestone twice, but becoming the only driver to ever to do it three times.

Harness racing fans have been counting down Merriman’s victories all over social media, tracking the well-traveled reinsman across the Midwest at racetracks near Cleveland, Ohio, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.

Merriman posted six wins last night, bringing his win-tally for the year to 993.  Today’s six drives at the Meadows yielded three more victories, elevating him to 996 for the year.

Aaron Merriman, who has won more races over Northfield’s Flying Turns than any driver in the track’s history, has 12 drives tonight.  He is only listed on one-morning line favorite, but 10 of the 12 are 7-2 or less morning line.
