Augusta, ME — The Maine Harness Horsemen’s Association is seeking to fill its Executive Director position.
The MHHA is a trade organization that represents the owners, trainers, drivers, breeders and grooms involved in Maine’s harness racing industry. The Executive Director is expected to be responsible for the day to day operations of the MHHA office in Augusta.
Specific Responsibilities include:
Processing memberships
Maintenance of records
Represent the association at industry functions, including MSHRC hearings
Represent the industry at legislative functions
Organize and provide necessary information for monthly meetings of the board of directors
Establish relationships with racetrack management, Maine Racing Commission, Maine Breeders Association, Maine Fairs and Maine OTBs
Field day to day issues from the membership, and address their issues in a timely manner
Assist directors in committee matters
Organize and prepare for MHHA annual meeting, banquet and awards
Coordinate MHHA scholarship fundraisers
Communicate with industry leaders in other jurisdictions and organizations
Skills Required:
Ability to communicate well orally and in writing
Confidence to take the initiative
A knowledge and understanding of the harness racing industry
Ability and experience to manage MHHA social media (currently Facebook only)
Ability to work primarily from the MHHA office, though working remotely is possible occasionally
Computer skills
A strong passion for harness racing
Experience:
Five years experience within the harness racing industry
Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required
Previous experience in office management
Salary: Will depend on skill and experience. Expected range of $40-60k
