Michael Scores captures Tioga Open

by Dustin Ross, for Tioga Downs

Nichols, NY — Michael Scores used his off-the-pace tactics to take down the $15,000 Open I Pace on Sunday afternoon (September 9) at Tioga Downs.

Kevin Cummings did the piloting for trainer James Compton, and stopped the timer in 1:53. It was the ninth victory of the year for the 6-year-old Held For Ransom son, who increased his seasonal earnings to over $69,000 with the victory. Winbak Dimensions and Jimmy Marohn, Jr. took the place money, while Quickful Bliss and Howard Parker got up for third.

Kyle DiBenedetto shipped in for the New York Sires Stakes late closers and picked up a driving triple, while Ray Schnittker and Stephane Bouchard each posted driving doubles.

Tioga Downs will host its final race card of the season on Friday, September 14, with a post time of 6:50 p.m. That program will be followed by a season ending fireworks display. For more information on Tioga Downs, visit us on our Web site at www.tiogadowns.com.
