Hamburg, NY — Michael Scores won his first race of the season on Saturday night at Buffalo Raceway for owner Sandra L. Compton of East Bethany, New York. This four-year-old Held For Ransom gelding is trained and driven by James Compton.

“He didn’t leave all that well,” said Jimmy. “But he’s tough once he gets the lead.”

The win broke the six race winning streak of El Paso Hanover, who just didn’t have it on this Saturday night.

Michael Scores paid $6.00 to win and was timed in 1:59.3. Coming in second was Dreamin’s Esquire with Jack Flanigen aboard. McGwires Run with Jimmy McNeight rounded out this threesome.

In Saturday’s co-feature, I’m Here To Win registered the fastest mile of the night, setting off the teletimer in 1:57.4 in the 11th race. He’s owned by Louis P. DiMarino of Olean, New York and was capably driven by Cliff Keene. He paid $9.80. Roger Nelson, with Danny Yetman, came in second and Adonis Hanover was third.

Racing resumes with a Sunday matinee card scheduled for a 1:05 p.m. start.
