Pompano Beach, FL — Midgie heads the Boca Raton Open Handicap Trot at Pompano Park on Friday, going for his third straight win this season. He is the 6-5 favorite and starts from post five for driver Wally Hennessey.

Over the past two weeks the seven-year-old gelding has been perfect for trainer Jim McDonald and the Knockout Stable of Margate, Florida, winning each week leading from start to finish, the fastest time for the mile race at 1:58.

Midgie’s main competition will come from Bring It Strong, who two starts back gave driver John Kakaley his 1,000th career win with a 1:581 triumph. Bring It Strong starts from post two.

Other contenders include recent winners JJ Hergert (post four) and Broward County (post one).

Also on a winning streak is ICU N in the seventh race pace. The four-year-old mare has won her past two starts for the Gordon Norris Stable and will be driven from post six for the first time by Wally Hennessey.
