East Rutherford, NJ — Erv Miller trainees Smooth Silver and Moonlite Delite swept the $12,500 opening round of the Tender Loving Care Series for 3-year-old filly pacers on Wednesday night (Feb. 11) at the Meadowlands.

Smooth Silver won the opening division of the Tender Loving Care Series by a neck.

Smooth Silver swung three-wide on the final turn and caught Riley Character just in time to win the first of the Tender Loving Care divisions in 1:52.4. Driven by Brian Sears, Smooth Silver got away sixth and worked out a third-over trip en route to a neck victory. It was a half-length back to the pacesetter Yellow Diamond in third.

Smooth Silver paid $8.40 to win the night’s seventh race. Bred and owned by Brittany Farms, the daughter of Western Hanover-Special Magic notched her second win in five career starts.

Meadowlands Pick Six pays $72,000

After a seven-day carryover, the Meadowlands Pick Six was finally hit Wednesday night with $72,178 paid out to the three winning tickets.

A $68,000 carryover heading into Wednesday night sparked a $227,433 total pool for the wager, which spans races four through nine. Tiger Laser, who paid $35.40 in the fifth race, was the longest shot in the Pick Six sequence. The winning combination was 8-3-1-4-10-7. The consolation payout for five winners was $304.80.

The record Pick Six payoff at the Meadowlands is $131,071, which came in February 2007 when one winner took down the entire pool after there was a $58,000 carryover heading into the card.
