Mohammed Mali, driven by David Miller and trained by Mark Harder, trotted the mile in 1:55.2 and improved his 2004 record to six wins in seven starts.
Miller tipped him off the pylons on the turn for home and cleared to the lead in the stretch after following the cover of Nahcotta Jude.
Miss Fairfax [$4.60, $3.60], who had cut the fractions, held on for second. It was three and a quarter lengths to Sent From Above [$4.20] in third. HZ Easy’s winning streak was snapped at four when he broke stride on the turn for home.
Mohammed Mali lifted his career bankroll to $94,540 for the partnership of D’Elegance Stable of Florham Park, New Jersey; Carmen Iannacone of Lyndhurst, New Jersey and the RCE Stable of Princeton, New Jersey.
The other two divisions, carded as races three and five, were won by longshots.
