Musclesextrodinair was a 1:54.3 winner for Sean Bier.

Sean Bier waited until the half to make his move and the 5-year-old son of Muscles Yankee blew past leader Armbro Timothy and then opened up a quick lead and cruised home a 1:54.3 winner for his third win in a row. Saint Johns Boy (Ross Wolfenden) closed to finish second for the fourth time in his last five outings. Armbro Corbin (Tim Tetrick) was the show horse.

In a $17,000 Winners Over Trot, Tim Tetrick won for the third time in a four-straight-streak, guiding Pat Tortorello’s Bud Ross to a 1:56 triumph. Celtic Hall (Tim Curtin) came on for a second place finish. RC Destiny (Tony Morgan) took third.

Mr Performer closed along the inside to nip Go Nano Go (Eddie Davis, Jr.) at the wire in 1:56.1 to win the other $17,000 Winners Over Trot. Stacy Stafford and driver Art Stafford, Jr. own the Garland Lobell gelding. Safari Heat (Roger Plante) picked up show money.

Two $110,000 DSBF finals top closing card

Two $110,000 Delaware Standardbred Breeders Fund (DSBF) 3-year-old trot finals for fillies and colt and gelding trotters headline the last card of the 2006-2007 season at Dover Downs on Thursday, April 12.

The DSBF filly final appears a showdown between Lloyd Arnold’s Ms Virginia, with the sport’s leading dash-winning driver of 2006, Tony Morgan in the bike, and Mist Stable’s Twilight Mist, driven by the current leading driver, Tim Tetrick. Both fillies are unbeaten in DSBF preliminaries with Ms Virginia seeking to repeat as she was the 2-year-old filly trot champion last fall at Harrington Raceway. Twilight Mist got the worst of the post position draw, starting from the outside in the field of eight.

Two other contestants won a $20,000 prelim each, Betsy Brown and Joe and Ursula Ayd’s Molly McGuire, driven by Jim Morand, and Devlish Miss, owned by Ed Maas, Nanticoke Racing, and driver Brandon Givens.

The other contestants include Neverenough Rusty, owned by trainer Bobby Myers and Carter Racing Stable, teamed with Tim Curtin, Super Snappy, with Kim Vincent driving for Marie Kinnier and Chris Smalfus, Mia Stellina, owned-trained-driven by Rod Allen, and Art Stafford, Ken Boulden and driver Art Stafford, Jr.’s Lady Harley.

In the $110,000 DSBF final for male sophomores, Swissonian has been a standout at 2 and 3. The CR Commando colt is unbeaten in three races this year and had four wins and two seconds in six outings last season for Fred and Layhoon Bruner. Tim Tetrick will drive for Josh Green, who is battling for the Dover Downs leading trainer title with Chuck Crissman.

Two other participants have won prelims, Tom O. Lail’s Secret Agent, handled by Eddie Dennis, and Outrageous, a 36-1 upset winner last week with Ross Wolfenden driving the well-bred colt owned by Glenn Wenzel, Dan Mock, Gary Price and Ricky Stamm.

Nanticoke Snazz has been impressive in both of his prelims with Brandon Givens at the controls, finishing second each time. Pam Wagner’s Penn State Fan and Tony Morgan leaves from the rail with The Wiz Kids Stable’s Coalition Member alongside. The other starters are JoAnn King’s Master Commando with Jim King, and Powerful Committee, owned by Tina Clark, Cantwell Bridge Stable and Bob Clark, Jr. Estate, piloted by Art Stafford, Jr.

There is also a $20,000 DSBF consolation trot on the program.

During the night the leading driver, leading trainer and horse of the meet presentations will be made.

Dover Downs thanks its loyal fans, both at the track and at hundreds of simulcast locations in the U.S. and Canada for helping to make the 2006-2007 meet the most successful in the track’s 38-year history. See you next October. Live harness racing continues in Delaware starting this Sunday at Harrington Raceway.
