Music Again strong in Rosecroft qualifier

Ft. Washington, MD — Music Again, a trainee of George Teague, Jr., raced like a seasoned pro in a qualifying mile for 2-year-old pacers on Wednesday morning (September 5) at Rosecroft Raceway, winning with a pocket trip in 1:56.4.

The son of Dragon Again, co-owned by Rodney Mitchell Inc. and Teague Inc., both of Delaware, followed Proper Respect (Carlo Poliseno) through quarters of :29, :58 and 1:27.2. Driver Ray Burton, Jr. urged the colt on in the stretch to win by a nose with a last quarter of :29.1.

China Road followed a similar route in his trot race. The 2-year-old son of CR Commando tucked into the two hole after leaving the gate from post six with trainer Jim King, Jr. at his lines. The colt raced through fractions of :30.3, 1:01.1 and 1:31.2, winning by three-quarters of a length in 2:01.2. China Road is co-owned by John Lohnes of Maine and Joanne Looney-King of Delaware.

The filly pacers were led gate-to-wire by Twin Oaks Tess in 1:58.4. The freshman daughter of Western Hanover, owned by Richard Edison of Maine, took the lead after a slow opening quarter of :32.2. Driven by Victor Kirby for trainer Manley Brown, Jr., Twin Oaks Tess held a strong advantage through fractions of 1:01.1 and 1:30, winning in 1:58.4.

First Season, a 2-year-old daughter of Political Briefing, trotted her way to a 14-1/2 length victory in 2:03.2. Driven by trainer Jim King, Jr., the filly easily drew away through fractions of :30.3, 1:02.3 and 1:32.2. Joann Looney-King of Delaware owns First Season.
