Mystro Hanover wins $66,400 NJSS

Trenton, NJ — Mystro Hanover overtook Howthehaloareyou in the deep stretch to win a $66,400 New Jersey Sire Stakes Premier Division leg for 3-year-old trotting colts and geldings in 1:57 on Friday (August 21) at Freehold Raceway.

With trainer Trond Smedshammer driving, the son of Windsong’s Legacy trailed Howthehaloareyou (Yankee Glide) by a length as they entered the stretch, but with a :28.4 closing quarter went on to win by a half-length at the wire.

It was the first win in seven starts this year for the colt owned by Souderia Giuliano. Mystro Hanover, winner of two races in six starts last year as a 2-year-old, boosted his career earnings to $87,459 with the $33,200 winner’s share of the purse.
