Newcomers to compete on final 2016 card at Kawartha Downs

from Kawartha Downs

Fraserville, ON — Join us at Kawartha Downs Saturday evening (Oct. 1) for the final card of harness racing for the 2016 racing season. There’s something for everyone as we celebrate another strong meet in terms of horse population, attendance, handle and competitive horse racing.

Just like in our grandstand every race night, on track are regular performers and newcomers. In the fourth race on the card there are three horses making their first lifetime starts. The youngest of the group is the 2-year-oild Armbro Deuce colt Four For Orr who has drawn post seven with Tony Kerwood down to drive. From the immediate family of millionaire Camaes Fellow, Four For Orr charted his first line in a qualifier last week at the Fraserville oval where he finished second.

Also making their career debuts are the 5-year-old Jenna’s Beach Boy son Gramps with post five and the 3-year-old Western Ideal son Shelbys Ideal from post nine. The latter colt is from the immediate family of Krispy Apple, a winner of $1.7 million during her career.

The always popular Hands On Horses will return and fans will have the opportunity to win a trip around the track behind one of our magnificent harness horses. Standardbred Canada’s Fan Club will be on hand with a contest and giveaways and we’ll be giving away hats and t-shirts and other prizes throughout the evening as we thank our wonderful fans for another great season.

Post time Saturday night is 7 p.m.
