NJSS fillies in Meadowlands spotlight

East Rutherford, NJ — Fancy Vacation commanded the lead at the half and held on to win a $30,000 third leg division of the New Jersey Sire Stakes for 3-year-old filly trotters on Wednesday night (June 11) at the Meadowlands.

Fancy Vacation was a 1:55 winner in her NJSS split for Ron Pierce.

Driven by Ron Pierce, Fancy Vacation won the first race of the night in 1:55. Despite going off stride before the wire, Chez Belle complied with the breaking rule and finished second. Muscle Shirt was a distanced third. Fancy Vacation paid $3.40.

The daughter of Dream Vacation increased her season’s earnings to $34,008 for ACL Stuteri AB. Trained by Annette Lorentzon, Fancy Vacation has won two of three starts in 2008.

In the second division, Gleams Dream pulled off a 29-1 upset. With John Campbell in the bike, Gleams Dream battled gamely down the stretch with Share The Promise to win the night’s third race by a neck in 1:56. Gleams Dream paid $60.20.

Trained by Chris Ryder, Gleams Dream has one win in five starts in 2008. Gleams Dream boosted her career earnings to $18,275 for Ryder and the Alycon Stable.

For the first time, the New Jersey Sire Stakes program will crown all of its 3-year-old champions on a single night, June 20, at the Meadowlands. The four finals are worth a combined $700,000 in purses.
