NJSS record by John Adams

by Leon Zimmerman, for the New Jersey Sires Stakes

Trenton, NJ — John Adams was the second president of the United States, but John Adams, the three-year-old pacer by Cam’s Card Shark, is first among New Jersey-sired sophomore geldings with a 1:53 performance in a New Jersey Sires Stake race at Freehold Raceway.

With Hall of Fame driver Catello (Cat) Manzi in the sulky, John Adams won a $23,600 NJSS race on August 19 for trainer Luca Derrico and co-owners Neptune and MJG Stables. His 1:53 clocking erased the previous Sires Stake mark of 1:53.3 for three-year-old pacing geldings that was set last year by Holborn Hanover.
