No More Gold N (6) defeated Jack Sparrow in Friday nights $9,000 Open Trot.

Capably driven by trainer-driver Keith Kash, Jr., No More Gold N ($2.80) made every pole a winning one cutting fractions of :30.3, 1:01.4, and 1:31.4 to the three-quarter pole. It was a hard earned victory as last weeks Open winner Jack Sparrow (Jim McNeight) challenged him every step of the home stretch only to come up a neck short. Speed Pilot (John Cummings, Jr.) finished third.

“This is a really good horse,” said Kash. “It feels real good to be back at our home track. I’m looking forward to a big year with him, and a trip to the Meadowlands is not out of the question.”

It was the second win of the season for No More Gold N, and the $4,500 share of the winning purse boosted his 2008 earnings to $9,638 and $154,908 lifetime.

Roman Emma Press Takes $7,700 co-feature

With veteran reinsman Angus MacDonald in the sulky, Roman Emma Press a 5-year-old roan mare out of Whitefish Falls romped to a handy 1:59.4 score in Friday’s $7,700 co-feature pace for Fillies and Mares.

“She’s a really nice mare,” said MacDonald. “I see a lot of family members showed up which makes it extra special.”

Leaving from post two in the field of seven, Roman Emma Press and MacDonald quickly took command of the race and set all the fractions, :29.4, :59.3 and 1:30.3. Three lengths behind in second was Southwind Prairie (John Cummings, Jr.) the favorite in the race. Sand Alexandria (Keith Kash, Jr.,) came in the show spot.

Owned by Stanley and Susan Szambelak of Swainton, NJ, it was the first win of the season for Roman Emma Press ($12.60), and the $3,850 share of the winning purse boosted her lifetime earnings to $56,692.
