Columbus, OH — The mile went in 1:554, the last half in :58, with the winner pacing his final quarter in :283. The qualifying mile isn’t anything too shocking — except that it was done by a two-year-old on Tuesday morning at Scioto Downs.

The Nobleland Sam colt Goodnite Buddy, trained by Mike Lee, qualified in late April at Lebanon Raceway, winning in 2:024 and finished second by a nose in a qualifier on May 4 at Scioto Downs in 1:59.

Dan Noble, who came from the hospital Monday after being present for the birth of his baby boy, has been at the lines with Goodnite Buddy for all three qualifiers.

Merit Badge, who banked over $185,000 as a two-year-old last year, also sported an impressive qualifier Tuesday morning. The Tagliabue filly, trained and driven by Chris Beaver, opened up on the field of trotters with a last half in :58, winning by over 32 lengths in 1:584.

Scioto Downs will play host to the Ohio Sires Stakes three-year-old filly trot and pace on its matinee card on Memorial Day. Post time is 1:00 p.m.
