Open handicap at Freehold won by Pacific Renegade

FREEHOLD, NJ – – Pacific Renegade, with Yannick Gingras at the reins, rallied through the stretch and won the featured $15,000 Open handicap for pacers at Freehold Raceway on Saturday.

Pacific Renegade, a four-year-old son of Cam’s Card Shark, hit the wire one and one-quarter lengths in front in a final time of 1:54.4. A late-arriving Whispers Spy (Stephane Bouchard) finished second and Desert Sign (Cat Manzi) checked in third, three and one-half lengths behind Pacific Renegade.

The victory was the fifth in 13 starts this year for Pacific Renegade, who is owned by Joseph Smith of New Vernon, NJ. The Tom Fanning trainee rewarded his supporters with a win mutuel of $15.60.
