Owner’s seminar on Sept. 24 at Yonkers

from the USTA Communications Department

Columbus, OH — Are you interested in racehorse ownership, or do you currently have friends who you wish could enjoy owning a Standardbred with you?

The Standardbred Owners Association of New York, in conjunction with Yonkers Raceway and the United States Trotting Association, is offering a free owner’s seminar at New York’s Night of Champions on Sept. 24. Beginning at 4:30 p.m., the event will be hosted in the Red Room at Yonkers and attendees will be welcomed to the Night of Champions owner’s reception immediately following.

From 4:30-5:30 p.m. attendees will be given educational materials and hear from experts in racehorse ownership, including host Chris Wittstruck, owner Richard Munk and trainers Linda Toscano and Andrew Harris.

Richard Munk is a managing partner of Funky Munky Stable, a group which offers racehorse partnerships for as low as $1,000. You can visit their website at www.funkymunkystable.com.

Trainer Linda Toscano became the first ever female trainer to win one of harness racing’s most prestigious events, the Hambletonian, in 2012 with 3-year-old colt Market Share.

Young trainer Andrew Harris spent years working for top North American conditioner Casie Coleman before beginning his own stable. He has experienced success in a short time, currently sitting 43rd in the USTA’s list of top performing trainers by wins. He also started his first horse in the Hambletonian this year, Waitlifter K, who finished fourth in the $1 million final.

At 5:30 p.m. the Night of Champions owner’s reception begins and guests will be able to enjoy appetizers and drinks while meeting successful racehorse owners with horses racing in the New York Sires Stakes finals that night. With eight NYSS finals competing for $1.8 million in purses, it will be an exciting night of racing for all.

You can sign up for the event now at http://shop.ustrotting.com/yonkersevent.aspx. You must register for the event in advance as spaces are limited and we will not be able to accept walk-ins. Please call 877.800.8782, ext. 5555 or e-mail owners@ustrotting.com to reach a member of the USTA’s Ownership Concierge Team with any questions about the event or racehorse ownership in general.
