Ft. Washington, MD — Divisions of the Maryland Standardbred Race Fund are set for Tuesday night (July 24) at Rosecroft Raceway, and talented 2-year-old pacing fillies will go head-to-head in a couple of events.

In the sixth carded race worth $15,300, the Joe and Joann Thomson owner-entry of Native Smile and Fiddle Rose will share the top morning line spot at 5-2 odds. Native Smile, an Allamerican Native filly trained by Robert Coole, was third at the Meadows recently in 1:57.3. The filly will start from the rail position with Jeff Fout in the sulky.

Fiddle Rose will make her first lifetime start in this race after winning a qualifier at Chester Downs in 1:58.4. The daughter of Allamerican Ingot, trained by Todd Johnston, is set to be driven by Jonathan Roberts from post six.

Lisbellaw (Frank Milby, 10-1), Indeman (Corey Callahan, 5-1), Ashleys Lucky Lady (Vic Kirby, 10-1), Snatch The Fortune (Roger Plante, Jr., 3-1), Winsmith Brianna (Donnie Russell, 5-1) and Herthie D (Eddie Dennis, 4-1) complete the full field.

In the eighth race for $15,100, Southern Blue is favored from the rail at 5-2 odds. The Nuclear High filly won a division of the Maryland Sires Stakes on July 16 in 1:56 for owner Gerald Kelly. Trained by Richard Hans, Southern Blue will be looking for a repeat with driver Jim Morand at her lines.

Our New Treasure is another to consider at 3-1 morning line odds from post two. The Allamerican Ingot filly, owned by Thomas Cullinan, recovered nicely from a break in a division of the Reynolds Stake at Pocono Downs to finish second in 1:55.4. Vic Kirby will drive for trainer James Tolson.

Kathy Kav (Jeff Fout, 8-1), Scotts Girl (Corey Callahan, 7-2), Hot Breath (Frank Milby, 10-1), Warden Woodie (John Wagner, 4-1) and Lislea Isabella (Stephen Schoeffel, 10-1) will also head to the gate.

Crazy For Ever will try for two in a row in Open

After wiring the Open I field last week in 1:52.2, Crazy For Ever will attempt a repeat performance in the $9,000 pace with Frank Milby at his lines.

The 6-year-old Life Sign gelding, set to start from post three at 2-1 morning line odds, has shown consistent efforts over the Maryland oval. This year to date, Crazy For Ever sports a line of 5-5-2 across the board from 23 starts and has a mark of 1:51.4 set on June 18. George Bartlett trains and co-owns the pacer with Alvin Mindel.

JJ’s Artiscape should be sharp from post two at 3-1 early odds. The 6-year-old Artiscape gelding, owned by Mayanne Karmin and Sydell Stone, was second to Crazy For Ever last time out and second to Nuclear Breeze on July 9. Trainer Bob “Doc” Davison, Jr. has named Donnie Russell as driver.

This race marks the return of Racing Naked, who will start from the pole position with Corey Callahan in the bike. After being off since November of last year, the 7-year-old Misfit stallion qualified in 1:53.4 recently at Rosecroft in a sharp effort. John Sumner trains the winner of over $250,000 lifetime for owner Bill Camp, Jr.

Other contenders include No Wishes (Jonathan Roberts, 5-1), Sleep Easy (John Wagner, 4-1) and The Fraternity Pan (Walter Callahan, 8-1).

First post on Tuesday is 5:35 p.m.
