Ft. Washington, MD — The Open Pace and Trot will both be contested at Rosecroft Raceway on Tuesday night, August 21, and the morning line choices are True North Hanover and Four Starz Robro, respectively.

The $9,000 Open Pace, set for race 12, includes a competitive field of six horses. True North Hanover, marked as the 5-2 morning line favorite, will start from post position two with trainer Donnie Russell in the sulky. The 4-year-old gelded son of The Panderosa, co-owned by Russell and Edward Needle, was recently fourth in an upper-level non-winners event at Chester Downs in 1:53. The winner of nearly $400,000 lifetime has a seasonal mark of 1:54 set at Rosecroft a few months ago.

At 3-1 odds, No Wishes will try for three consecutive victories in this class. Last week, the 8-year-old No Nukes gelding won by just over a length in 1:54 with Frank Milby in the sulky. This week, Jonathan Roberts will drive for trainer “Bib” Roberts, and the pair will leave the gate from post four. The winner of over $300,000 lifetime is co-owned by the Graham Grace Stable LLC, Adam Ainspan and Mary Roberts.

Racsan John looks to be one of the best in the field at 7-2 early odds. Last time out, the 7-year-old Wynfield Mark gelding was second to No Wishes in 1:52.1 with a closing quarter of :28.1. Victor Kirby will drive for trainer Daniel Warrington. Warrington co-owns Racsan John with Donald Hawk.

Racing Naked (Jeff Fout, 5-1), The Fraternity Pan (Frank Milby, 5-1) and Jacob’s Western (John Wagner, 4-1) complete the field.

Four Starz Robro is the 7-5 top pick in the $10,000 Open Trot, carded for the 15th race of the evening. The 5-year-old Conway Hall horse, owned by Kelley Rogers, is always successful at Rosecroft. Currently showing a line of 8-4-1 across the board from 21 seasonal starts, the trainee of Judy Welty will start from post position six with Jeff Fout in the bike.

Quiet Tech is another to consider from the rail at 9-2 early odds. The 5-year-old High Tech horse is returning to Rosecroft from a difficult trial at Chester Downs where he finished sixth in a non-winners class. Last time at Rosecroft, Quiet Tech trotted to a second-place finish in 1:57.4. Frank Milby will drive for the Ducharme connections.

Also set at 9-2 odds is Jim’s Message, a 6-year-old Carry The Message gelding who finished second in this class last time out. Owned and trained by Jeff Long, the gelding has six seasonal wins so far from 19 starts and a lifetime mark of 1:55. Victor Kirby will drive from post seven.

Rounding out the field are Brilliant Success (Wayne Long, 8-1), Mountain Breez (Chris Offutt, 10-1), Slate (John Wagner, 8-1), Mi’s Arlene (Jonathan Roberts, 10-1) and Chippewa Warrior (Donnie Russell, 10-1).

Post time for Tuesday’s 15-race card is 5:35 p.m.
