Louisville, KY — The headlines for her division and gender have been dominated by the nearly unbeatable Put On A Show and world champion Dancinwiththestarz, yet Panagler has managed very solid and productive campaigns during both seasons of her young career.

“She’s been really good,” said her conditioner Bob McIntosh. “It is a talented bunch of fillies this year, but she has lived up to my expectations. She is still pretty fresh and there is still a lot of money left to go for this year.”

The daughter of No Pan Intended-Panipulator is a homebred for Peter Pan Stables of Pepper Pike, Ohio. The filly has collected $374,694 from 19 starts and established her mark of 1:52f on July 16 at The Meadows in an $87,719 Pennsylvania Sire Stake.

As a freshman, Panagler captured a $110,802 Eternal Camnation division at Mohawk Raceway in a stakes record of 1:53s, finished third in a $140,142 Champlain Stakes split, also at Mohawk, and fourth in the $610,000 Breeders Crown at Woodbine Racetrack.

Panagler lowered her mark to 1:52 in a Pennsylvania Sire Stake on July 16 at The Meadows.

This year the filly ventured south of the border and has finished second in the $200,000 Pennsylvania Sire Stakes Final at The Meadows, third in the $171,000 Nadia Lobell at The Red Mile and in an $88,000 Tarport Hap division at the Meadowlands, and fourth in the $350,000 Valley Forge at Harrah’s Chester. Both of her triumphs this year have come in Pennsylvania Sire Stake races.

Panagler is the second foal out of her dam, who earned nearly $100,000. Her full sister, Pantecostal, has bankrolled more than $80,000, possesses a mark of 1:56h and has six victories.

“Right when we broke her I knew she had a lot of talent,” McIntosh explained. “She was kind of a high strung filly and she comes from a high strung family, but she had a very beautiful long gait to her.

“We took a lot of time with her and were careful not to get her too excited,” he continued. “We turned her out every day and only certain people jogged her. We just tried to keep her quiet every day and when she came back this year, she was much better. She minds her manners much more now than as a 2-year-old.”

Although he admits Panagler does like her own way, McIntosh said the filly is fine around the barn and he feels her attitude could have something to do with her ability.

“She is very strong-willed and she certainly likes to be the boss, but the way she is probably makes her a good filly, too,” he said.

In her last start, the Nadia Lobell this past Monday, her trainer was satisfied with the filly’s third place finish behind Put On A Show and Dancinwiththestarz.

“I thought she was pretty good,” McIntosh said. “I was happy. John Campbell drove her and gave her a nice trip; maybe if she could have been two lengths closer…but it was big mile and overall I was quite pleased with her.”

The Jugette at the Delaware County Fairgrounds, next Wednesday, September 22, is the next scheduled contest for Panagler.

“What’s next on our agenda is the Jugette and then the Breeders Crown,” McIntosh said. “Of course she is staked to everything, but those two races are what we are pointing for right now. She gets around the half awful good and I think she will be very good in Delaware. Obviously a lot is decided with the post positions in Delaware. I think if she draws well, she will give a good account of herself.”
