Pandy’s Picks: July 18 M

by Bob Pandolfo

Bob Pandolfo offers his picks for the $50,000 Pick-4 at Meadowlands Racetrack on July 18, part of the U.S. Trotting Association Strategic Wagering Program.

Meadowlands Pick-4, Races 7-10, Friday, July 18, 2014

Saturday night I had seven winners on top and went with a $4 ticket and had three of the four winners including $17.20 winner Wake Up Peter, who was my top pick. I made a mistake. All I had to do was include one more horse, the favorite Bee A Magician, and I would’ve hit the Pick-4 for more than $90 on a 50 cent ticket. It was an easy one to hit, a mistake on my part for not covering with a prime contender.

I’ve hit the Pick-4 three times this meet. Championship meet totals: Standard ticket, 15 plays, -$34.40. Whale ticket, nine plays, +$206.75.

Standard ticket: 50 cent play: 2/27/14/4 = $2
Whale ticket: 50 cent play: 12/27/14/46 = $8

Analysis:

Race 7: (2) Clear View Hanover went a big mile in a tough field last week. On my whale ticket, I used (1) Delightful Dragon, a filly that has promise and is likely to improve off last.

Race 8: (2) Upfront Billy drops off a race he needed and (7) World Cup drops and gets a key driver change.

Race 9: (1) Scream And Shout looks tough as she drops out of a stakes race and (4) Dejatiero has room to improve and gets a key driver change.

Race 10: (4) Time To Quit seems fastest of these as he drops sharply in class. (6) Cathy Princess gets Hall of Fame driver.
