Pandy’s Picks: March 8 M

by Bob Pandolfo

Bob Pandolfo offers his picks for the $50,000 Pick-4 at Meadowlands Racetrack on March 8, part of the U.S. Trotting Association Strategic Wagering Program.

Meadowlands Pick-4, Races 6-9, Thursday, March 8, 2012

I didn’t hit Saturday night, minus $16, which brings the total to minus $451 for the first 26 nights; I haven’t hit one so far this meet. I had a $14.20 winner in the mix but only two of the four winners. I’m going to stick with small tickets. The chances of hitting the Pick-4 at the Meadowlands with these small tickets is very low but I want to try to use handicapping skill instead of large bets and just see where the chips fall. I’ve had several narrow misses this meet. Realistically, most serious Pick-4 bettors at the Meadowlands are probably going to bet between $100 and $200 a night. Another tough sequence tonight. I’m going two deep.

$1 play: 35/57/37/34 = $16

Race 6: I’m using (3) Marcus Bi and (5) Cameron Chip here. Both come off game placings and draw inside of the other main contenders.

Race 7: (5) Here Comes Numbers ships in from Woodbine in good form and lures Sears off another contender. (7) Jessesjo also ships in from Woodbine where he finished just behind the top pick and he gets a driver change to Gingras, who excels with trotters.

Race 8: (7) Celii N is a solid veteran claimer. (3) Success Rocks takes a key drop.

Race 9: (3) Sauce Two K has been breaking but he has a good history over this track. (4) Double Up Hanover comes off a layoff but qualified well, adds lasix. This is a wide open race.
